The Lutheran Church of Arcata invites everyone to the installation of its newly-called pastor, the Rev. Taylor Hagbo, tonight at 6 p.m. at The Lutheran Church of Arcata, 151 E. 16th S., Arcata.

The installation will include a festival worship service highlighted by the presence and participation of Lutheran clergy from throughout the region, former pastors of The Lutheran Church of Arcata, as well as other visiting dignitaries. The service will include a diverse variety of musical offerings, likely including at least one song written by Hagbo.

Following the worship celebration, a reception with refreshments will be presented in the church’s fellowship hall.

“Shreddi Yetti & the Plastic Planet Community Art Build Party,” a day of creativity and community, will take place Sept. 9 at the Recology Trash Museum, 555 Vance Ave., Samoa. The event starts at 9 a.m. and runs until work is completed.

Local artist Kati Texas will lead folks of all ages in transforming discarded plastic waste into an enchanting planet Earth and breathing life into the lovable upcycled mascot, Teddi the Shreddi Yetti. No prior crafting experience is necessary.

These creations will find their home at Maker’s Apron Creative Reuse in Eureka, championing waste reduction education across the county.

This eco-art build party is presented by KEET-TV and Maker’s Apron, and is funded by the PBS Create Channel’s Season of Fun grant.

Also, pancakes — made by the Recology crew — will be available for everyone.
