A masked “pigeon pirate” is on the loose in Florida after police say the bird bandit allegedly snatched thousands of dollars worth of feathery friends from a home in Florida.
The man was filmed on security camera stealing $2,100 worth of trained homing pigeons from a home in Reddick — about 25 miles south of Gainesville, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said.
The tattooed man could be seen entering the property while wearing a green bandana as a mask along with a black hat, black tank top and red shorts.
He was holding a black bag and left with his head down, according to photos released by the sheriff’s office.
Police are asking for the public’s help to identify the thief.
“When we catch him, we can’t tar-and-feather him, but we can make him the next jailbird to roost at the Marion County Jail,” the sheriff’s office quipped.
Anyone with information about the man or the location of the homing pigeons is asked to call 352-732-9111.
