ADRIAN — Adrian College’s Robinson Planetarium has announced the September schedule for its FullDome movie program.

“Cosmic Color” is a show for all ages and is scheduled at 7 p.m. each Friday in September, with dates of Sept. 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29. The program is free of charge and lasts approximately 50 minutes, a news release from Adrian College said.

“Cosmic Colors” will take visitors on a journey across the entire electromagnetic spectrum to discover the many reasons for color — like why the sky is blue and Mars is red. It also includes a look at the spring star patterns for Michigan, the college said.

The planetarium is at the eastern end of Peelle Hall on the corner of South Charles and Williams streets. Lawn signs will be posted directing motorists to available parking and to the planetarium.

ADRIAN — There are several opportunities for kindergarten through 12th grade students at Adrian Public Schools to get involved in extracurricular after-school programs throughout the 2023-24 school year, which began for Adrian students on Monday.

The district recently released its list of “Arts for All at APS” after-school programming, which is made possible through the fine arts department. Parents and students can stay updated on announcements and information by visiting the Adrian Maple Fine Arts Facebook page.

Programming offered this school year includes elementary drama club, elementary dance camp, K-12 arts club, fourth-fifth grade honors choir, elementary circus camp, Springbrook Middle School and Adrian High School plays, Springbrook Middle School and Adrian High School musicals, Springbrook Middle School and Adrian High School tech clubs, Springbrook Middle School piano camp, Springbrook Middle School show choir camp, Adrian High School Balladiers, Adrian High School jazz band, Lenawee County honors band, Adrian High School dance club, National Honors Society and Adrian High School auditions workshop.

LANSING — Michiganders who need assistance paying their energy bills have one month remaining to apply for the state’s home heating credit.

Low-income, deaf, disabled or blind persons, disabled veterans, and senior citizens may qualify for the home heating credit. Applicants are not required to file a Michigan individual income tax return to receive the credit, a news release from the Michigan Department of Treasury said. Individuals can apply for the credit online at www.Michigan.gov/IncomeTax. Forms and instructional materials are available on the website.

Application forms are also available at many libraries, Northern Michigan post offices and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services offices across the state. People can also visit www.Michigan.gov/HeatingAssistance for applications and for more information.

Additional information about the heating credit can be found by calling 517-636-4486. All applications for the credit must be received by Sept. 30, the release said.

Over the past five years, nearly 257,500 claimants have received home heating credit with an average credit of $209.

• Weekly storytime programming at Blissfield Schultz-Holmes Memorial Library is scheduled for today with sessions at 10 and 11 a.m. Storytime is available at no cost and registration is not required. Programming is held weekly on Wednesdays at the library, 407 S. Lane St., unless otherwise noted. • The All Men’s Caregiver Support Group sponsored by Daybreak Adult Day Services will have its next monthly meeting at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at Daybreak Adult Day Services, 327 Erie St., Adrian. Meetings are the first Friday of each month and are open to all men who serve as caregivers for a loved one. Respite is available onsite. All are welcome for fellowship, emotional support and hearing creative ideas from other male caregivers. • Addison Community Schools is in need of elementary parents and grandparents to serve as volunteers for its PAWS store, in the elementary school cafeteria. An online sign-up form to volunteer can be found at www.tinyurl.com/PAWS-Store. The store operates twice a month on three separate days, the district said. Third and fifth grade will be on Tuesdays, second and fourth grades on Wednesdays, and kindergarten and first grade on Thursdays. Each time slot is a little more than one hour.
